Naval History Museum – Puerto Vallarta

Historic Naval MuseumThe Naval History Museum of Puerto Vallarta is set in a privileged oceanfront location, just in front of the main Puerto Vallarta landmarks and world famous Malecón, right in the heart of the city. Founded November 18th, 2006 this museum has a great collection composed of more than 154 pieces in exhibition.

Mexico’s Ministry of Navy currently has four naval history museums; two of them located in Mexico City, one in the port of Veracruz and the recent one here in Puerto Vallarta where you can find navigation charts, scaled replicas of antique and modern boats, topographic reproduction models of the Mexican Republic and a variety of its ports, as well as navigation artifacts, canyons, uniforms and a panoramic exhibition that gives us the sense  of the great compromise of the Naval forces towards the community in regards to the functions of saving and helping in disaster cases.

The exhibition halls are:

• Expeditions and discoveries of the South Sea.
• Merging of two worlds.
• The journey of the Naos and defenses of the fleets.
• Foundation of Puerto Vallarta and the colony of San Blas.
• Islands and reefs.
• Mexico’s Naval Forces.

Within the second floor you will find a temporary exhibition room, an multimedia room and of course a café with first class service which offers breakfast until 13:00 hrs and Wi-Fi internet connection.

The naval history museum of Puerto Vallarta acquires, preserves, investigates, communicates and exposes or exhibits for study purposes and / or simple delight, artistic and scientific collections… always with a cultural value.

It’s open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm. Address: Zaragoza street #4, Downtown Puerto Vallarta.
