56th International Fishing Tournament Puerto Vallarta

The International Marlin & Sailfish Fishing Tournament has arrived once again to Puerto Vallarta this time celebrating its 56th edition. This renowned fishing tournament is organized by Mr. Andres Famania Ortega, Bandera’s Bay Fishing Club President taking place November 9, 10, 11, and 12 in which you can participate in 4 categories: Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and Tuna fish; in the case of Sailfish and Marlin the teams will be able to participate in the catch and release form stating the team champion with the highest number of catches.

With prizes adding up to  2 million pesos; there are 7 cars, professional fishing equipment  and cash prizes! Each team is integrated by a maximum of 4 fishermen and with the sole purpose to protect the species only the following species will be qualified:

  • Marlin with a weight over 220 Lb. – Record 710.54 Lb.
  • Sailfish with a weight over 66 Lb. – Record 155.64 Lb.
  • Tuna fish with a weight over 66 Lb. – Record 388.01 Lb.
  • Mahi Mahi with a weight over 22 Lb.

The opening ceremony took place Thursday, November 10 at pier number 3 at the Integral fishing administration (API) and the award ceremony will be held at the Hotel Krystal, Jalisco hall on Saturday, November 12 at 8:30 pm.

This tradition began in 1956 at the Puerto Vallarta Fishing Club becoming more popular year after year. The activities start early in the morning and the goal is to find the best fish samples.

Halloween is a night of fantasy and mystery where everything related to the world of the dead and the paranormal phenomenon are remembered and represented; it’s one of the spookiest and mocking festivities in history. This festivity mainly takes places in the United States, Mexico and Canada the night of October 31st., although its world famous thanks to the Hollywood movie industry. It’s so special and unique that throughout history it’s been captured on film and literature reflected till this day.

Halloween... an Adopted Tradition in Mexico For several decades, with increasing force, Mexico celebrates more and more the Halloween festivities since it falls perfectly with the traditional festivities of the Day of the Dead which takes place the 1st. and 2nd. of November. It’s very common to see in businesses and houses the traditional orange and black colors, even pumpkins and all related to this day. Children come out early afternoon  to the streets asking for their “trick or treat” door by door along the way, at night many clubs and bars have special Halloween parties presenting a costume contest  where the prices are normally very tempting.

XVI Pan American Games 2011 - Puerto Vallarta Events

The flame of the Olympic cauldron has been lit in Puerto Vallarta on October 7th, giving lead way to the “American Fiesta” of the Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011.

The facilities for the different disciplines and the city itself will be receiving 310 athletes, many tourist and the press from all around the continent.

The disciplines that will take place are the following:

Will be held between October 17 and the 23rd at the Vallarta Yacht Club, being consider by the experts the Riviera Nayarit as one of the best destinations for this discipline due to the quality of its winds, the condition of its waters and the modern nautical infrastructure that it has.

There will be 140 participants under the following categories:

  • Windsurfing (Female / Male)
  • Laser Radial (Individual Female)
  • Laser Standard (Individual Male)
  • J-24 (Aquilla boat w / 5 people crew)
  • Hobbie Cat (double catamaran)
  • Snipe (Double)
  • Lightning (Aquilla boat w / 3 people crew)
  • Sunfish (Individual light weight open for Male or Female)
The location for this event will be at the Marine Terminal on Sunday, October 23rd which will be open water mode starting at API (Port Administration) and Fluvial Vallarta, 70 athletes will be participating.
Swimming – Open Water
It is expected for 36 swimmers to participate, 18 Male and 18 Female, in both genders the swimming route will be of 10 kilometers on October 22nd, the location has been changed to Downtown Puerto Vallarta taking place at the “Malecon”.
Beach Volleyball
The competitions will begin on October 16th and will end on the 22nd at the Pan American Beach Volleyball Stadium, located next to Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center; this stadium has capacity for 3,436 spectators and will be receiving 64 participants.

The XVI PAN AMERICAN GAMES will take place from October 14 – 30, 2011 in the city of Guadalajara, the opening ceremony will be held at the Omnilife stadium.

These games are organized by (COPAG) Organization Committee of the Pan American Games in Guadalajara. In which approximately 42 countries will be participating from North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean.

This is the third time México hosts the Pan American Games and the first time the games are celebrated outside of México City.

Puerto Vallarta will be part of the sports program for the disciplines of:

From October 17 to 23, 140 athletes.
October 23 at the Marine Terminal, 70 athletes.

Nuestra Belleza México Pageant comes to Puerto Vallarta

This year Jalisco will be hosting the National Beauty Pageant Event of NUESTRA BELLEZA MEXICO 2011. Puerto Vallarta will be the headquarters of the semifinal held on August 18th and the final on August 20th which will be broadcasted live on national television.
